The Squares are formed when two or more planets are at a distance of 45 degrees between them. They show us internal tensions … parts of our being that are connected and that are naturally incompatible. This forces us to an internal work that allows the expansion of consciousness and evolution, not only at the individual level but also at the collective level. With the squares, we are forced to become alchemists.

In this article I talk about the squares between Luna and Venus when they are in signs of the same modality (Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable). The squares that occur between signs of different modalities feel less conflicting, since they are generally in kindred elements … Water and Earth, Fire and Air, or between signs of the same element. In this case, squares are experienced more like sextiles or trines (fluid aspects) and instead of feeling tension, tuning both energies to create fluidity is lived in a less conflicting way.

The Moon represents our emotional world, what produces comfort, our unconscious, our emotional needs and everything that nourishes us. Venus describes our relational language, what attracts us and how we look for it, our values. When these two planets are in quadrature of the same modality, our relational language attracts to us that which does not necessarily bring us comfort.

For example, when we have Moon in Leo square Venus in Scorpio, we are attracted (Venus) to the hidden, the mysterious, investigation and even the sordid. The Moon in Leo is warm, cheerful, optimistic. The tension between these two planets occurs when we attract situations of Scorpio nature… where we find pleasure in diving into , where we find pleasure in diving into the crudest truths of life, the base of existence, to transform it.  The emotional reaction of a Leonine moon that naturally prefers warmth and joy can be of instant rejection.  However, the work here is to dive into these realities and bring them warmth.  While we do not assume these two energies as parts of ourselves, we will experience them in external situations as mirrors of our internal conflicts.

Then, we must understand the Moon-Venus square as a catalyst for the expansion of consciousness where Venus acts as a provider of experiences that expand the emotional capacity of an individual.
