“A deep desire of material security to feel emotional comfort.”

We are born with a set of skills that help us expand our consciousness and fulfil the call of our Soul. As we work on this, we also expand the collective consciousness of our species, giving space to evolution. The position of the Moon Nodes at the time of our birth shows the axis where our existence oscillates, balancing and integrating everything we learn throughout our experiences.
In Vedic astrology, the nodes of the Moon are called “The Dragon’s Head – Rahu” (North Node) and “The Dragon’s Body and Tail – Ketu” (South Node). The mythology about the nodes is extensive. We know that Vishnu beheaded the dragon after drinking the ambrosia along with the gods, when the creature was posing as one of them. The dragon, by drinking the ambrosia, became immortal. The kingdom of heaven and Earth became one. Then Vishnu cut the dragon in two: on the one hand the head, and on the other, the rest of his body. The two parts of the dragon remained immortal, but separated forever. And that was how the cosmic order was restored.
The North Node is lived as a voracious desire that we cannot control. Our consciousness is there. It is our goal, what we want to reach. The South Node describes what is part of our system, our DNA, the innate abilities of our being. We are a branch of our family tree and our individuality is the expression of our heritage plus what we do with it in our unique way. The signs where the nodes are located describe “what can be understood but has no experiential body” (North Node) and “what has experiential body but is not understood” (South Node). This creates a mirror in which we seek to know who we are. We will look for the qualities of what is represented by the sign of the North Node to include it in our behaviour. Astrological houses describe the area of our life in which this occurs.
When the North Node is in Taurus, our quest is to discover our self-worth by creating stability and comfort in our lives.
With the South Node in Scorpio, we have the capacity to dive into the crudest aspects of life, live it viscerally and transmute it.
Within our being, we have a great affinity with situations of pain and suffering. It is very likely that we have in our DNA a history of crises, losses and situations in which we have the ability to live in extreme situations. Now, our personal task is to create comfort, stability and material tranquility, something that is completely new to us.
From the shamanic point of view, what we are doing is opening doors that will affect our ancestral line. Through our incarnation, our Soul is interested in experiencing self-esteem through material achievements. And to achieve this, we have everything that our ancestors have inherited from us and that relates to Scorpio: concentration, ability to see what is hidden, courage, intuition and power of transformation.
The Nodes are always found in opposite signs, and compatible elements. In this case, the elements are water and earth. We are learning to balance emotions and sensations. Both Scorpio and Taurus are fixed signs, indicating durability. What we will work during our life is the refinement of feelings born of emotion.
