In Astrology, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto define generational groups, since being very slow planets, they remain in the same sign for several years. Each time one of these planets enters a new sign, an expansion of collective consciousness begins that will transform society, culture.
When we are born with some of these planets in the first degrees of a sign we can feel that we do not belong to our generation. This happens because we are at the beginning of a new generational wave of which we are the first to cross it. This influence will feel stronger if the transpersonal planet comes into aspect with a personal planet. In this case, this influence will be felt in a personal way. If this is not the case, we will live the generational effects in a more unconscious way (at least until it is activated by a progression or transit). In any case, when we are born with one or more of the transpersonal planets entering a new sign, we are the initiators of a new consciousness that has to do with what the sign represents. It is possible that individuals born with this configuration have difficulties in understanding or being understood by those who have the transpersonal planet in the previous sign. And for this they can be a long time trying to understand how to relate to the world that exists until they arrive at the moment when they discover that what they have to do is create a new perspective … Prepare the ground for those who will be born in the coming years.
When the transpersonal planets are within the first 5° of a sign, the generational gap begins to fade, since the values represented by the sign they are traveling begin to be part of our daily lives, especially when we interact with people that is about our age.
If when a planet that is in the first degrees of a sign arrives to an unexplored land, when it is in the last degrees it is already identified with the characteristics of the sign, and it takes the characteristics of the sign as if it were part of itself. All the planets that transit the last degrees of a sign are in the same situation, but the transpersonal planets live it in a more drastic way. When a transpersonal planet is at the end of a sign it is very comfortable in the society to which it belongs but cannot help feeling that there is a new energy approaching. This change can produce some internal anxiety. The next sign represents the consequence of the evolutionary process of the previous sign. Somehow a planet that is in the last degrees of a sign will need to use everything it has learned to be able to face the new generational wave that is at the threshold of its consciousness. Perhaps the biggest challenge is the identification with the collective conscious and unconscious represented by the transpersonal planet.
How long does transpersonal planets take to cross a sign?
|Uranus||about 7 years|
|Neptune||about 13 years|
|Pluto||about 20 years|
When we see how long it takes for transpersonal planets to go around the Sun, we notice that Uranus changes signs three times during the time that Pluto transits one. The generational wave represented by Pluto will have three Uranian sub-generations. There will be three different ways of expressing individuality (Uranus) that will go through the same transformational process (Pluto). And Neptune, which takes 13 years to pass through a sign, acts as a catalyst for integration within the generation represented by Pluto and the Uranian generations.
The structure of evolution is wonderful when we observe it from the astrological point of view. It is very difficult to notice these changes from the present moment. We can glimpse it by looking at our parents who generally belong to another generation. This generational gap is very useful to gain consciousness of our the different waves: if there were no generational differences with our parents, it would be difficult to conceive the “I”, since there would be no contrast. But this also provokes the belief that there are only two existing perspectives in the world – at least during the first 30 or 40 years of life. When we begin to interact with individuals of all ages we discover that many facets of our personality are parts of a collective being, and thus we discover the characteristics of our generation. That is the first step to discover our individuality as a group and achieve integration with the rest.
